BRIEF: An old gem literally in the backyards of homes in a new development SUMMARY: Cozy interior and excellence throughout are a hallmark of this old structure. BRIEF: An Indian curse for crashing. SUMMARY: The Park is haunted by a strange ghost light. People in boats have sometimes mistaken the ghost light for a lighthouse. There is a legend that goes with the ghost light. The legend is about Indians placing a curse upon the English: to make their ships crash upon the shore. Subsequently, there have been a number of ships which have crashed on the shore. The British sloop, the Daybreak, reportedly crashed because of this ghost light. BRIEF: Odd things happening in Turnquist neighborhood of Elkton, MD SUMMARY: On Delancy Road, just off Rt. 40 at the Delaware/Maryland line, is a neighborhood called Turnquist.
On December 8, 1963, a plane (Pan American Boeing 707 - Flight 214 - Baltimore to Philadelphia) with 81 passengers was flying over the Maryland/Delaware border when lightning struck the wing and ignited the plane. The plane crashed and the 81 people all died. Their bodies were scattered all over a field on Delancy Road.
Turnquist was built on that field, and residents report many strange happenings, noises and sightings. All that remains of the ground where those bodies fell is a remembrance plaque, right next to the sign for the neighborhood. BRIEF: Do not fall into the water SUMMARY: Huge. Deep. Still. Not a smart place to fall into. Numerous dilapidated structures on the quiet grounds form an abandoned, sort of business-town. Now privately owned and rotting away into nothingness, this dying place echoes with the clamor and deeds of a bygone era. |
