"We foster an environment of constructive peer review, the philosophy being the more active members out there thinking, observing and collecting evidence, the more likely someone is to produce something substantial and the more we all collectively learn. Another way to look at it: Every family has an eccentric member or two; we're the place where all those folks can collectively hang out and feel at home."
Haunts Database
BRIEF: visible Bloodstains on a tombstone SUMMARY: Graveyard where a Tombstone is spattered with blood and an entity lurking just out of visual range. BRIEF: A slaughter here long ago left poltergeists SUMMARY: Bay Oak, the new housing development in Lewes, is at the same location where American Indians massacred members of a then-newly settled Dutch community. The neighborhood appears to be haunted. People have seen orbs floating in the air; streaks of light flash through the sky and inside their homes. Not one, not a few, but over one dozen. BRIEF: 27 Miners perished and doomed Mansfield to mining infamy SUMMARY: "Suddenly, a few minutes after nine, there was a loud report and an overpowering rush of water, and the men felt themselves being overwhelmed by an avalanche of mud, ore and water. So fast came the flood that it is doubtful whether the men on the upper levels had time to drop their tools and run for their lives to the old shaft. Had any of them reached the perpendicular opening, however, it would have availed them nothing for the shaft known as 'Old No. 1' collapsed as soon as the water reached and undermined its base. This occurred at precisely half past nine, and it was then known to those in charge of the mine that the men in the upper level had been trapped and drowned like rats by an accident which had long been expected." BRIEF: Even the janitors wouldn't. SUMMARY: Chris O. wrote:
"I spent some time doing odd jobs as a teenager at this private school for girls. The original building which the school is built onto is a very old ranch house which is haunted. I personally experienced (when alone in the building at night) lights going on after I turned them off, sounds of closing doors, sounds of moving furniture. There is an overwell feeling of uneasyness here. Other employees I knew, janitors etc., did not like to go into this part of the school at night and some refused to." BRIEF: A deserted, destroyed church and its spirits SUMMARY: Jacobs Church was a Lutheran church which sat between two towns, Hagerstown and Smithsburg. In the late 1970's the church was being used and known as the Peace
Church. BRIEF: What a place! SUMMARY: This home is located on the banks of the Pocomoke River down on the Eastern Shore. The plantation dates back to the early 1730s and has a vexing history, given that it was built on top of an Indian burial ground as well as being a beachhand for smuggling pirated loot! BRIEF: Torso ghosts are extraordinarily creepy. SUMMARY: The SAE Fraternity House is haunted by ghostly soldiers who have been seen by several people. Residents have heard strange noises that can not be explained, including the sounds of footsteps walking throughout the building. Some ghostly apparitions of the soldiers appear only in part, most often they do not have legs. These ghosts have been seen floating through the room of the building. BRIEF: He's little and he's mischievous SUMMARY: This shop on Main Street is haunted by the ghost a young boy. The ghost once pushed the owner down the stairs. The owner of the shop had a woman exorcise the shop. The young ghost was asked to leave and the shop owner has not had a problem since. BRIEF: Haunted by a Indian Princess who was killed during an electrical storm. SUMMARY: Haunted by a Indian Princess who was killed during an electrical storm. Her body was never found, but there are burnt outlines of a person on the side of the rock.
