Revelation
Preservation
"Death is the great Teacher, stern, cold, inexorable, irresistible; whom the collected might of the world cannot stay or ward off. The breath, that parting from the lips of King or beggar, scarcely stirs the hushed air, cannot be bought, or brought back for a moment, with the wealth of Empires. What a lesson is this, teaching our frailty and feebleness, and an Infinite Power beyond us! It is a fearful lesson, that never becomes familiar. It walks through the earth in dread mystery, and lays it hands upon all. It is a universal lesson, that is read everywhere and by all men. Its message comes every year and every day. The past years are crowded with its sad and solemn mementoes; and death's finger traces its handwriting upon the walls of every human habitation." --Albert Pike, Morals and Dogma

The cemetery is home to many civil war era soldiers, including the nearly 18,000 buried near the infamous “Pyramid”. Presidents John Tyler and James Monroe, and Confederate General JEB Stuart are among the cemeteries more famous guests. Locals and visitors alike report a feeling of uneasiness when visiting the cemetery, and there is lack of lore about strange sightings and noises in and around the grounds. When viewed from on of the many vantage points along the James, Hollywood sits elegantly, if not a little foreboding, on a steep river bank. The Pyramid can be seen from far outside the cemetery, and has been known to give observers a shiver on site alone. BRIEF: An important point, geographically, historically SUMMARY: Harper's Ferry is located under the cliffs overlooking the confluence of the Shenandoah and Potomac rivers. This is the location where John Brown attempted to start a slave uprising in the South. Brown came to Harper's Ferry to seize the 100,000 muskets kept in the federal arsenal. Harper's Ferry was strategically located as it was on both low and high ground at a key juncture of two rivers (Potomac and Shenandoah) and the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad. It also had the United States Armory and Arsenal. BRIEF: Multigenerational Home of Todd family, involved in War of 1812. SUMMARY: Todd's House is known as Todd's Inheritance.
Thomas Todd settled there in 1664 with his wife and children from Gloucester County, Virginia. That's as much prolonged, concentrated history as anyone in this country, except for of course the Indians.
