"Knowledge is more like a stream than a lake, and sharing it does not decrease it." --Zaitsev
This site exists for sharing experiences, pictures, findings, event announcements, questions and information.
It's meant to be valuable to you, to increase your enjoyment and fulfillment, knowledge and understanding, to help you share your experience and find your truth. The point is not necessarily about "proof", it's about experience and evidence, documentation and making and keeping connections.
Through sharing what we know all may benefit. We strive for excellence in all things and welcome compatible individuals and groups at any level.
"We wish to pursue Truth no matter where it leads. But, to find Truth we need imagination and skepticism, both. We will not be afraid to speculate, but we will be careful to distinguish speculation from fact." --Carl Sagan

BRIEF: A place for care and recovery SUMMARY: By Congressional legislation, construction of the Walter Reed General Hospital was authorized, and the Hospital admitted its first patients on May 1, 1909. Named in Major Walter Reed's honor, the medical center was founded on principles that would integrate patient care, teaching and research.
World War I saw the hospital's capacity grow from 80 patient beds to 2,500 in a matter of months. Through World War II, Korea and Vietnam Wars, hundreds of thousands of soldiers were treated here. BRIEF: Partially hidden behind a curtain SUMMARY: This Inn is haunted by a ghostly woman which has been seen in the Inn on a number of occasions. She has been most often seen looking out a window, partially hidden by a curtain. BRIEF: Various paranormal activity involves this house SUMMARY: The Blevin House is known for being haunted. People have seen balls of light floating through the house. The orbs appear in different colors.
People have heard the sound of voices talking when no one is around. People get the feeling of being watched. BRIEF: Original 1815 Tavern on Herr's Ridge one mile west of town. Property and building were used in part of the 1st day of the Gettysburg Battle SUMMARY: Thomas Sweeney built a tavern and publick house on the site in 1815. In 1828 the establishment was sold to Frederick Herr, and the business was run by the Herr family for almost 40 years, and sometime during this time the house was a stop on the underground railroad. The ridge the house stands on came to be known as Herr's Ridge, and the battle of Gettysburg began in the fields around the tavern buildings. The Publick House was used as the first Confederate hospital during the battle, and much of the house was converted into operating rooms. After the war, it became a boardinghouse, then an operating farm, and then rental property. Then in 1977 Steven Wolf bought the house, researched the history, and restored it to its original purpose, opening for business in May of 1978. Today the house, which is on the register of historic places, has been faithfully restored to its 19th century appearance. BRIEF: An old broken heart never healed. SUMMARY: The sorrow of a broken heart.
