BRIEF: Apparitions and Bridges are never a good mix SUMMARY: There is a bridge located near Hollywood, Maryland, along St. Andrew's Church Road. The bridge crosses over a dark, swampy area. This location is home to two different ghosts. BRIEF: A cruel stepmother and a promise kept. SUMMARY: People have seen a tombstone in Rocky Hill Cemetery that appears to bleed. The woman buried beneath the tombstone told her husband if he remarries and if his new wife was cruel to her children her tombstone would bleed in sympathy for her children. They have changed the tombstone several times but the blood keeps coming back. BRIEF: Lingering remnants of a fire SUMMARY: Morrill Hall is the oldest building on campus. You know it's seen its share of activity. It is widely thought to be haunted.
The building was used for medical training more than 80 years ago. UMCP kept cadavers for dissection in the basement [see Frank the gravedigger]. BRIEF: A bear can do serious damage. SUMMARY: An historic, small stone house at the corner of Seven Locks Rd. and River Rd. (between I-495 and the Cabin John Firehouse) is all that now remains of what was once a very large expanse of land known as "Magruder's Honesty." (A.K.A. Beall's and Magruder's Honesty.) Maryland State land records show various owners of various subdivisions of the land, beginning before 1783. There is at least one ghost legend attributed to the land, but, as the house has been sealed up (with a plaque out front) for some years, it has not been recently verified.
