History is often made in a moment while hauntings seem to grow over time. This site exists, in part, to support and provide an haven of communication, storage and discussion for investigators, explorers, historians, enthusiasts and addicts of all things paranormal, spiritual, supernatural and scientific.
Paranormal anything is often highly personal and usually emotionally charged. Our purpose is not to necessarily convince anyone of anything, nor to provide yet another avenue of "debunking," nor to promulgate baseless baloney and hogwash, but to simply provide a vibrant forum for gathering and presentation in which members and information may speak freely and constructively. Of particular interest are the quirks and missing pieces, the details otherwise lost to history, and of course the precious facts, stories and experiences. We hope that by bringing people and knowledge together, the inevitable synergies can help enlighten and improve us all.

BRIEF: Dutch cemetery In Berkeley Springs WV. SUMMARY: Taken from A walking Tour of Berkeley Springs
Lots 1 and 2 of the original town plat were set aside by the trustees in 1777 for a German church and two other houses. There is no indication that any structures were built. It was variously known as the Dutch, German or Lutheran Cemetery. The body of Doctor Samuel Crawford, victim of a postwar lynching in 1876, was buried there. In 1888, two men reported seeing the ghost of Crawford standing over his grave in the old Dutch graveyard. There was a move in 1917 to move the few bodies interred here to Greenway Cemetery so the land could be available for development. No action was taken. Gravestones have been restored in recent years. BRIEF: And you thought the Almshouse was bad... SUMMARY: Built in Cockeysville in 1872 along with the Almshouse, the Pest House is separated from the Almshouse by a man-made gulley.
Hospitals did not admit patients with communicable diseases back in 1872. People with contagious and untreatable illnesses such as smallpox, cholera and other serious diseases were segregated and kept at the Pest House. The Mesoamerican Long Count calendar, notably used by the Maya civilization among others of pre-Columbian Mesoamerica, completes its thirteenth b'ak'tun cycle since the calendar's mythical starting point (equivalent to 3114 BC August 11 in the proleptic Gregorian calendar, according to the "GMT-correlation" JDN = 584283). The Long Count b'ak'tun date of this starting point (13.0.0.0.0) is repeated, for the first time in a span of approximately 5,125 solar years. The significance of this period-ending to the pre-Columbian Maya themselves is unclear, and there is an incomplete inscription (Tortuguero Stela 6) that records this date.
