These four points will help with most registration problems:
1. In the black box above should appear jumbled white letters and numbers. Can't decode it? Guess. Failed guesses get a new graphic with info intact.
A missing or broken image probably indicates blocked or broken "cookies". To function properly, eastghost.com requires working cookies. If the jumbled code isn't working, see this for tips and fixes: http://www.eastghost.com/cookies/
A new jumbled image must appear every time you reload this page. If it does not --and instead the same image appears or no image appears-- then obviously there's a problem, most likely with cookies being blocked or failing on your end. Sometimes, InternetExplorer reuses its locally-cached copy of the original jumbled image, disregarding the new image presented by our server; in this case, change the "check for new content" option from "never" (or "automatic") to "always" (found under Tools/Options). Of the few problems, this is a common culprit. Firewall software, such as Norton or McAfee, which blocks or improperly restricts cookies is another commonality among the few problems. Remember, thousands of people have registered, some even today. Please triple check your local browser settings, software firewall, etc.
2. We require all Members to maintain with us their working email address. This facilitates communication, keeps the site fresh and lively, and thwarts spammers, robots and abusers. Our registration process automatically, immediately emails to you a verification code which is required to validate your Membership.
3. Using a "spam blocker" or AOL or Earthlink? Your registration verification will be emailed from register@eastghost.com, so you must first manually "whitelist," pre-approve or otherwise enable email reception from register@eastghost.com now before clicking the Register button; otherwise, your registration will fail because your spam filter will block the necessary verification email. (AOL and Earthlink users must go into your 'mail controls' and ensure that the box or option labeled 'accept all email' is checked. Failure to do so may make it impossible for us to communicate with you.)
4. Using Yahoo, MSN, Hotmail or similar? Some large services employ a technology called "Grey Listing" in which email from unknown email senders is purposefully delayed, sometimes for hours. All "fresh" or previously unseen emailers, thereby, are suspected spammers and made to wait. The benefit is that impatient email spammers don't wait and are thwarted. Neat idea, but the penalty to everyone else is delayed initial email.
Our registration verification emails are sent literally within seconds, but that doesn't necessarily mean you'll receive yours right away if grey listing has delayed reception. There's an option on the Login page to re-request your verification email, but using it may gain no speed advantage and may in fact be blacklisted by some greylisters.
