History is often made in a moment while hauntings seem to grow over time. This site exists, in part, to support and provide an haven of communication, storage and discussion for investigators, explorers, historians, enthusiasts and addicts of all things paranormal, spiritual, supernatural and scientific.
Paranormal anything is often highly personal and usually emotionally charged. Our purpose is not to necessarily convince anyone of anything, nor to provide yet another avenue of "debunking," nor to promulgate baseless baloney and hogwash, but to simply provide a vibrant forum for gathering and presentation in which members and information may speak freely and constructively. Of particular interest are the quirks and missing pieces, the details otherwise lost to history, and of course the precious facts, stories and experiences. We hope that by bringing people and knowledge together, the inevitable synergies can help enlighten and improve us all.

The Mesoamerican Long Count calendar, notably used by the Maya civilization among others of pre-Columbian Mesoamerica, completes its thirteenth b'ak'tun cycle since the calendar's mythical starting point (equivalent to 3114 BC August 11 in the proleptic Gregorian calendar, according to the "GMT-correlation" JDN = 584283). The Long Count b'ak'tun date of this starting point (13.0.0.0.0) is repeated, for the first time in a span of approximately 5,125 solar years. The significance of this period-ending to the pre-Columbian Maya themselves is unclear, and there is an incomplete inscription (Tortuguero Stela 6) that records this date.
